Leigh Dispersal Set For Tattersalls

The bloodstock of the late Sarah J. Leigh, who died in September, will be dispersed at the Tattersalls December sale, which takes place Nov. 23 to Dec. 3. The dispersal, which will be presented by Sara and Luca Cumani’s Fittocks Stud, will be comprised of six lots–one yearling, one foal, two fillies in training and two broodmares. All trace back to Leigh’s foundation mare Brocade (GB) (Habitat), winner of the G1 Prix de la Foret and the dam of Classic winners Barathea (Ire) (Sadler’s Wells) and Gossamer (GB) (Sadler’s Wells).

The six lots are 1965, the stakes-winning Seta (GB) (Pivotal {GB}) and 1247, her Exceed and Excel (Aus) colt foal; 1893, Seta’s half-sister Rivara (GB) (Red Ransom) and 147, her Pivotal (GB) yearling colt; and fillies Delaine (GB) (Beat Hollow {GB}) (2245) and Farandine (GB) (Rock Of Gibraltar {Ire}) (2247).

The contribution of the Leigh family to British racing and breeding has been immense and while the dispersal of the Late Sarah J. Leigh’s bloodstock will be tinged with sadness, it will also be a fitting tribute to the enormous success the Leigh family enjoyed over many years,” said Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony.
